Whether CLOVER, in-school or after-school, in clubs or at camps, 4‑H’s positive youth development programs are available in your local community and welcome children who want to have fun, learn and grow. You don’t have to join a club to be in 4-H, but it is the most popular way to participate. Clubs generally meet twice a month on a regular schedule, which is determined by the members of the club. During meetings, you learn how to accomplish the goals of your projects, how to run a business meeting, and how to do demonstrations about your projects. The clubs may plan recreational activities, community service projects, fundraisers, and field trips. 4-H offers curriculum and learning resources that are research-based, peer-reviewed, hands-on fun for after school, home school, school enrichment, day camps, and more.

Today, over seven million members participate in 4-H programs in more than 70 countries. Clubs can meet in a variety of locations, including virtually, and typically meet in the evenings and on the weekends. An independent member program is offered for those youth who are not able to join a club. This program involves setting goals, quarterly meetings to discuss progress and end of the year activities. We’d love to talk with you about content delivery options for your program. 4-H offers over 450 curriculum and learning resources that are research-based, peer-reviewed, hands-on fun for after school, home school, school enrichment, day camps, and more. The 4-H elements of practical skill building activities, meaningful leadership roles and partnerships with caring adult volunteers has been proven to equip young people for future success. According to a longitudinal study by Tufts University in the United States, 4-H youth attain higher educational achievement and are three times more likely to actively contribute to their communities. 4-H programs are designed to enable youth to “Learn To Do By Doing” and “To Make the Best Better”. Youth can choose from a broad menu of 4-H projects which they complete with guidance from their adult leader in a fun, inclusive and safe environment which encourages individual leadership roles.
Intermediate and senior 4-H members also have special opportunities, such as participating in Know your Government, WSU Teen Conference, and the King County Teen Leaders of Tomorrow Club. Youth must be at least 8 years of age on October 1 to participate hands-on with large animals (horses, cows, sheep, pigs) and in shooting sports.
